Wednesday 14 March Fox and Panther cubs
- International week: On Thursday 29 March at 9:00am the International Parade will take place in the Primary front playground. Students are invited to wear clothing that represents their cultural heritage. If you are able, please come dressed in your national costume and cheer on. Our Chatterbox coffee shop will be open for parents to enjoy a beverage or snack.
- School begins at 8.20am, please do not drop your child to class before this time as the teachers need time to prepare for the day. We can also have meetings before school so cannot supervise children.
FOXES AND PANTHERS
This week we will introduce the story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. The children will be exposed to this story in English and Mandarin so that they can gain a better understanding of the story. To link in with this growing theme we will take the children to the flower shop where the children will be allowed to choose a plant. On returning to school, they will plant their chosen flower and we will discuss with the children how they can take care of their plant.
We will also practise cutting skills this week by cutting out the letters from the children’s names and gluing them into the correct sequence. The children will play a variety of listening games to improve their listening skills and we will learn ‘Mary had a Little Lamb’.

MEERKAT AND WOLF CLASSES
We have a lot of fabulous things planned for the week ahead. The children have loved working and playing in the Veterinary Role Play. It has been wonderful to see the care they are giving to our range of soft toy animals. Next week we will extend this with our trip on Monday. Our focus will be on living things. We hope that many parents will be able to join us for our trip to Love Pets, and Jeffries Supermarket. On this outing we will visit the pet shop and talk about animals. At Jeffries supermarket the children will purchase a plant each which they will plant in our raised gardens in the playground and then care for the plants. They will also buy a fruit each for making fruit salad. The money for this will be provided by school.
We will be sharing these stories which support the children’s learning around fruit. Please see the links below. It is helpful if children, particularly those with English as an additional knowledge have some prior experience of the stories we introduce in school.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carl
The Shopping Basket by John Burningham
Vocabulary will be extended in all areas as we talk about the fruits, how they smell, taste and their texture, where and how they grew. In the gardening experiences we will be talking about care of living things and life cycles. To extend this we will also revisit our measuring chart and children will talk about tallest, smallest and compare height.
It will be another busy but fun week of learning through investigations and play. We hope you can join us on Monday for the outing.
