Week Beginning 18 December 2017

We hope you all have a good holiday and we look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 9th January.

  • There will be a ‘Meet the Teacher’ day on Monday 8 January for the Bobcat class, who will be able to come in to the classroom and  meet their new teacher, Amanda Carroll 9.30-10.30am .
  • The new Pre-Nursery Polar Bear class will also pay a visit on this day to visit their new classroom and teacher, Angela Timms.
  • As we returned all the chidlren’s items before the holidays to enable us to clean their cubbies, please remember to send in extra changes of warm clothes, any nappies that are needed as well as their bedding.
  • The library will be open as usual so your child will be bringing home a new book in the first week.
  • Swimming will resume as normal on Tuesday, our first day back.

Each teacher will plan learning experiences that link to the readiness and interests that they observe in the children in their class.  While these separate themes operate in each room, the children know they are free to choose to work in another room.  The planning is specific to each classroom, but not confined to that class, so children have many rich opportunities available to them across the three classrooms.  Mandarin teaching will link into each theme, with the Mandarin speaking staff introducing specific language, books and songs.

In our first week back we will provide lots of opportunites for the children to rediscover the classroom and our daily routines, make independent choices and get to know our new friends. We will allow the children to explore the environment, supporting their play and finding opportunities to extend and enhance their learning for the following week.

We will also encourage talk about our holidays  and any celebrations we took part in. Please email us with a family holiday photo of an experience that your child takes part in over the holiday. The children love to share these photos with their friends. (k-vaughan@bisspuxi.com, p-proust@bisspuxi.com, a-carroll@bisspuxi.com, a-timms@bisspuxi.com).

In our first week we will talk about our holidays and the photos the children send in.
