- Class Lists 2017-18
We are currently working on class lists for 2017-18 and will share these with you during the week beginning 12 June.
As is our practice, we aim to provide stability for our students by moving them up with their existing classes where possible, while also taking account to ensure that classes are balanced. Following the issue of the class lists, it will be possible to meet with Ms Jess should you have any questions. However, we ask for your trust in us that that all decisions taken are in the best interests of all the children and your understanding that we cannot meet requests of individual parents.
- Wanted - Jumble items for Tanzania Table at the Garden Party
We are a group of Year 8 and 9 students who are busy fundraising for the projects we will support in November when we travel to Tanzania on our amazing service project. We are looking for your help for contributions of second-hand toys, books and any other small unwanted household items for our Jumble Table at the Summer Garden Party. If you are leaving China or just having a Spring clean, please consider donating your unwanted items to our Tanzania Jumble Table. Please send them in to either the Primary or Secondary reception desks.
- Please let your class teacher know if your child will leave early for the Summer holiday.
LEARNING THEMES–GETTING READY FOR YEAR 1: Moving On
We are fast approaching the end of the year and the children are already getting excited about moving up to Year 1. Using a story by Eric Carle, called ‘A House for Hermit Crab’, we will be exploring themes of changes and new beginnings. We will be talking about and visiting their new classrooms in Year 1 and talking to some Year 1 children to find out about life in Key Stage 1.
LEARNING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
This week the Reception Cubs will be going on a trip to Changfeng Ocean World to see an array of sea life. We will be talking about sea animals, seeing how many different types of sea animals we can see in stories such as ‘A House for Hermit Crab’ and using online resources, such as youtube, to help us to find out more about these amazing creatures.

MATHS – ESTIMATION
We will be exploring estimation through games. Children will try to guess and then check how many objects (e.g. counters, pencils, soft toys) they can hold in one hand.
estimate, guess, check, count, more, less
This week in Mandarin, we will talk about sea creatures, for instance what they eat and where they rest. We will try to remember the names of some typical sea animals, such as shark, whale and starfish.

Ahoi maatjes!
