Week Beginning 13 November 2017

Monday and Tuesdays are school holidays. Enjoy this break with your family and we look forward to seeing all the children back rested and ready for school on Wednesday 15 November.

MESSAGES

  • Year 1 will be creating some junk art for our theme ‘Go Wild’ please bring in any packaging waste you have around the house.

LITERACY

In Literacy we will be introducing our fiction unit. For the first week, children will focus on familiarising and sequencing a story.

MATHS

In Maths we will continue to focus on number bonds. Children will apply their knowledge of number bonds to answer addition and subtraction word problems.

STEAM THEME

We will be continuing our topic Go Wild!  The children will continue to learn about different types of animals, such as amphibians, reptiles, mammals, birds and insects.  They will sort animals into herbivores and carnivores and then by habitat. The children will collaborate to group animals correctly and use iPads to record their findings.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY

The children will learn how to code and develop their coding skills through a computer programme on laptops.  They will learn that they can make an item move by giving it clear instructions.

PSHCE

Children will discuss through circle time what a conflict is, recognise examples in school and discuss as a class how to deal with these conflicts in a calm, positive manner.

DUTCH

Hij komt, hij komt.... Aanstaande zondag komt Sinterklaas aan in Shanghai!  In de Nederlandse klas kijken we volop uit naar de komst van de Sint.  We nemen een kijkje binnen in de stoomboot van Sinterklaas en vragen ons af wat de Sint dit jaar meebrengt vanuit het verre Spanje!

De letter van de week is de ` u`.
