- Raincoat and Cold Weather- Please ensure that your child brings a raincoat to school for the wet weather and a coat now that the temperature has dropped.
- Swimming - Please be aware that the days are getting colder and wetter so please dress your child accordingly. On swimming days girls may wear dark leggings and matching dark socks instead of tights to make it easier for them to get dressed. A warm hat is also recommended.
In Literacy the children will be studying the book Dear Green Peace by Simon James. They will imagine that they are the girl from story and write letters to Green Peace asking for more information about Whales. The grammar focus for the week will be subordinating conjunctions such as; if, because, that or when. This could be used in a sentence in the following way:
If I behave in class, I will get a house point.
I really like the bag that you bought at the fake market!

Last week the children learnt how to recall their times tables at speed. This week they will be using this knowledge to solve division calculations. You could help at home by ensuring that your child is able to recall at least their 2, 5 and 10’s times table.

This week the children will begin a two week unit of work where they will learn about the artist Vincent Van Gogh. They will look at Van Gogh’s self-portraits in chronological order. Then with a partner they will ask and answer question about Van Gogh and discuss the pictures to see what they notice. They will then look at several of his other most famous paintings. Following this, the children will read the book Camille and the Sunflowers by Laurence Anholt and watch a children’s documentary about the famous artist. Once they have gathered this knowledge they will write a letter to the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam informing them of everything they have learnt.

De ridders en jonkvrouwen van year 2 kruipen deze week in hun rol voor onze voorstelling op 1 maart. We schrijven onze tekst, lijsten de rekwisieten op en spreken enkele achtergrond scènes in.
Tussen de bedrijven door gaan we van start met het afnemen van de CITO –toetsen. We maken voldoende tijd vrij om de kinderen de kans te geven de toetsen op eigen tempo af te werken.
