- Raincoat and Cold Weather- Please ensure that your child brings a raincoat to school for the wet weather and a coat now that the temperature has dropped.
- Swimming - Please be aware that the days are getting colder and wetter so please dress your child accordingly. On swimming days girls may wear dark leggings and matching dark socks instead of tights to make it easier for them to get dressed. A warm hat is also recommended.

Please encourage your child to see if they recognise any clothes or objects; if you can please come yourself to check claim items. We will be re-cycling anything unclaimed over Chinese New Year.

In Literacy this week the children will complete a two week topic where they will be reading Aesop’s fables. They will read a variety of his fables and discuss what the moral of each story is. They will then adapt one of these fables to begin to plan to write their own fable. For instance, instead of the boy who cried wolf the children might write a story about a girl who cried fire! To outline their ideas they will complete a story map and then rehearse saying their story orally.

To celebrate Chinese New Year we will be completing a series of lessons on Chinese culture. The children will be painting Chinese fans and making Peking Opera masks. They will then learn a fan dance and find out what the different mask designs represent.

The children will be revisiting addition and subtraction. We will first ensure that children are familiar with number bonds to 10, 20 and 100. Following this, we will show the children how they can use the bridging to solve one and then two-digit addition and subtraction calculations. Some children will learn to add through the partitioning method. If you would like further guidance on the strategies that the children will be using this week then please contact your child’s class teacher.
