- TERM 3 ECA/BISCAP/BISS Lions Swimming Programmes will begin on Monday 17 April and run until Friday 16June 2017. Confirmation letters will be sent out during the first week back.
In Literacy this week, the children will be looking at different types of poems and their poetic form, including Clerihews, Kennings and Haikus. They will discuss their structure and format and use their knowledge of different poems to create their own, based on a theme. We will be learning about syllables and repeated patterns when composing a poem and how humour can be used in some poetic forms. The children will practice learning a poem to perform and using rhyme when writing their own. By studying poems from around the world, the children will learn about authors and various styles of poems that are written today and in the past.

This week the children will be developing their understanding of place value and number sequences. They will be thinking about patterns in number and identifying what the pattern is so that they can complete more complex sequences. They will also be revisiting Roman Numerals and developing their knowledge by looking at addition squares. The children will be completing challenges involving sequences of cubes and triangles as an entry point to algebra and trying to use their knowledge to solve things independently. Towards the end of the week they will be introduced to another way of solving word problems and work together to use their new strategy for increasingly more difficult challenges.
