Week Beginning 5 February 2018

We hope you have a lovely Chinese New Year!


  • Friday is Chinese New Year Dress Up Day. We are very excited about Chinese New Year and our wide range of upcoming activities. On Friday 9th February our celebrations involve dressing up! We welcome everyone to come to school dressed in Chinese-dress, red clothes or anything related to the upcoming Year of the Dog!
  • Friday: Dragon Dance (8.30am in Primary)
  • Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy here.
  • Please can you save any cardboard boxes, plastic tube etc for the KS2 Production, and send them in with your child. After the holidays we will begin making our props.


This week, we will be in the Da Vinci Centre – see Themed Learning for details!


It is our Da Vinci Centre and week! The children will be using spaces in the Da Vinci Centre and the Art room to develop a range of their knowledge and skills. We will be designing and creating an Ancient Greek artefact; making it seem real by painting a Greek pattern or picture on it also. Additionally, the children will be scripting and filming a news report about the Olympic Games using the Green Screen. Finally, they will be building and programming robots to take part in the BISS Puxi Lego Robotic Olypmic Games!


This term our new PSHCE / well-being program will begin.  The first core value covered is collaboration.  The children will continue to think about friendship and the characteristics which make a good friend.

Deze week proberen we alle citotoetsen af te ronden.

Het is weer een hele klus, maar iedereen houdt het goed vol! Knap hoor.

We gaan zelf aan de slag met het maken van gedichten!

Begrippen als de illustratie, de inhoudsopgave, de eindrijm, de gedichtenbundel, het thema, verwoorden, ritme worden extra belicht.

Cijferrijmpjes, Rondelen, elfjes, limericken, naamgedichten en opbouwgedichten passeren allemaal de revue.

En we gaan ze zelf schrijven. Natuurlijk moet er ook gezorgd worden voor bijpassende illustraties.

Uiteindelijk werken we toe naar een originele SDS-poëziebundel!
