MESSAGES

  • To Winter Concert performers (7th December)

A letter was distributed last week to the performers involved in the upcoming Winter Concert. If for whatever reason a letter didn’t reach you, please collect a copy from either the Reception desk or by clicking on the link here.

To clarify, this should be for students who are in: Orchestra (Symphony Orchestra); Senior / Junior Strings; one of the choirs; Samba band; Jazz band. It is absolutely essential that all reply slips are handed in to either the Primary or Secondary reception by Tuesday 28th of November.

  • Friday 1st December – Year 4 Learning Showcase 9 - 10am in the Da Vinci Centre.
  • Tuesday 28th November – 4B Class Assembly, 2.40pm in Stage One.
  • Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy here.
  • Monday 27th-Wednesday 29th November- Pluft Show
  • Saturday 2nd December- Christmas Fair.
  • Wednesday 13th December- Festive Frock Day and Class Parties.

LITERACY

This week we are starting our new literacy topic of Poetry. We will be looking at some popular poems and raps by Michael Rosen, Paul Cookson and Jack Ousbey with a focus on rhyme, intonation, tone, volume and action. By the end of the week the children will be using these skills to recite one of the poems they have been studying in class.

MATHS

This week we will be exploring 2D and 3D shapes, comparing their properties and describing them. We will use their nets and other materials to create 3D models. Finally, we will visualise the 3D shape unfolded and try to recreate nets investigating how many we can make.

THEMED LEARNING

This week we will be continuing on with our new topic of Space. The children will be looking at true or false facts about our galaxy. We will then move onto the movement of the sun, moon and earth in relation to each other and how that affects our night and day across the planet.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING  AND  DIGITAL LITERACY

The Computing lessons throughout the next few weeks will focus on using search technologies effectively. The children will search for information, visit specific sites and extract information to answer questions.

PSHCE

In PSHCE this term we will be looking at resilience and to find solutions to problems for ourselves. Being independent is a skill we hope to develop throughout the year as it is an important part of growing up.

DUTCH

Voor de voorstelling van Tosca Menten hebben de leerlingen  fantastische  presentaties in de klas gehouden. De  leraren en de leerlingen waren goed voorbereid en allemaal erg enthousiast. De voorstellingen  van Tosca Menten voor de Nederlandse kinderen en voor de overige kinderen waren een groot succes.

De tentoonstelling over Tosca Menten staat nog even bij de Primary Reception,  iedereen kan hier het werk van de leerlingen bewonderen.

Nu zijn de leerlingen allemaal bezig met de vraag: “Waar is Sinterklaas?”. We hebben het `SDS Sinterklaasjournaal ` bekeken en we vragen ons nu allemaal af of het feest wel door kan gaan.

Er wordt hard gewerkt: er worden gedichten en brieven geschreven, er wordt aan cadeaus gewerkt en aanstaande dinsdag mogen alle leerlingen de schoen zetten.

Vrijdag komt de Sint (hopelijk) aan en vergeet je niet aan te melden voor de gezellige Sinterklaas afterparty.

Year 5/6 French – Miss Donacien

This weekend’s homework will be to continue with the homework grid, choosing one homework task per week. Homework will be checked each week.
Next week, the children will listen and respond to a simple story called Le Navet Énorme using repetition and gestures. They will also sing a well-known traditional French song.

This week`s homework will be reflecting on the movie you`ve made in French class.  Review the movie in your Seesaw account and reply on the comment from your teacher.

Next week we will continue our celebration topic, getting ready for the Christmas celebrations.  We will look at the December calendar, writing down the holidays.  What did you get last year from Father Christmas?  What will you put on your wish list this year?
