MESSAGES

  • Class Lists 2017-18

We are currently working on class lists for 2017-18 and will share these with you during the week beginning 12 June.

As is our practice, we aim to provide stability for our students by moving them up with their existing classes where possible, while also taking account to ensure that classes are balanced. Following the issue of the class lists, it will be possible to meet with Ms Jess should you have any questions. However, we ask for your trust in us that that all decisions taken are in the best interests of all the children and your understanding that we cannot meet requests of individual parents.

  • As the weather is getting warmer please ensure your child is dressed appropriately and has their named water bottle, sun hat etc.

LITERACY  


In Literacy this week we will be returning to our novel ‘Millions’ to begin to consider how to dramatise events within a story. We will look at how to discern clues to how a character moves, looks and behaves from the text and use the dialogue to develop relationships between characters.
 

MATHS 

In Maths this week we will be using the Lego Mindstorm building and programming kits to link our mathematics with computing skills. The children will be building and programming robots to take part in disaster relief operations, helping to find trapped people and building robotic arms to dismantle collapsed buildings.

THEMED LEARNING

This week in Themed Learning we preparing for our BISSCARs celebration by writing and reheasing for our performace on Thursday 22 June.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING  AND  DIGITAL LITERACY

This week we will be looking again at e-Safety, further helping the children understand how to be safe when online and how to control their own profile on the internet. We will also look at how to make safe searches and how to respond if something inapropriat is encountered.

This week the children will be continuing to discuss safe play and sensible choices on the playground. We will be discussing how to resolve conflict peacefully.  We will also be focusing on how we should treatdifferent groups in our society including minority groups.

Year 6 French – Dr. Cattel / Mme McConnon.
Next Thursday we will continue working on developing our revision games. Due to the transition day on Tuesday, there will be no French on that day. 
Homework this weekend is to create 10 questions in French that can be used in the revision game. For those who have not yet done their video of   making ‘pain perdu’ using the French given to them last week, please could you complete. Ms Jess will be looking at the best videos submitted so far. 


Year 5/6  Spanish -  Ms Martinez
Next week we will be revising vocabulary through games using Rockalingua and Linguasope.  We will also create new Kahoots to test each other on our Spanish knowledge.

Homework this week is to complete their current Kahoots on the topic of their choice.

Children will continue reviewing their likes and dislikes related to food and explaining why they like the foods.

Die Schüler untersuchten die zusammengesetzten Nomen und die damit verbundenen Regeln, z.B. den Artikelgebrauch und das Fugen-S.
Anschliessend lernten sie, die Informationen fuer eine Freizeitkarte zu recherchieren und nach W-Fragen aufzuschreiben. Zu Hause sollten die Kinder eine Freizeitkarte von den Freizeitangeboten in Shanghai zusammenstellen. Ein paar Beispiele von den Freizeitkarten sind im Booklet (Seiten 92, 109) zu finden.
Folgende Freizeitangebote wären möglich: Jump 360, Lego Dioscovery Center, Happy Valley, Disneyland usw.

La semana próxima empezaremos un proyecto cultural mediante el cual trabajaremos la expresión oral y escrita para ampliar vocabulario y trabajar los tiempos verbales complejos. Para deberes, los estudiantes deben leer otro capítulo de un libro de su elección y resumirlo.

DUTCH

In het wild

Deze week starten we het onderzoek voor onze vlog: ‘ode aan de ... !’ Leerlingen leggen een dier naar keuze onder de loep: wat is het natuurlijke habitat, hoe ziet het eruit (als jong, volwassen dier, bejaard dier), waarvan leeft het, hoe leeft het (alleen of in een groep), etc.

Als de informatie verzameld is schrijven ze hun script en filmen we de vlog met ‘the green screen’ op de achtergrond.

Cito-toetsen

We ronden de Cito-toetsen af. Resultaten worden zo spoeidig mogelijk gecommuniceerd.

Leerlingen kunnen niet voor de toetsen leren, maar het wekelijkse huiswerk van SDS  is een goede Cito-training.De leerlingen worden vooral aangemoedigd om extra spelling te oefenen met BLOON (www.bloon.nl, inlognaam is SDSyear3 of SDS year4 of SDSyear5 of SDSyear6, wachtwoord spellen). Het trainen van spelling is een kwestie van herhaling. 

Ook het maken van de Nieuwsbegripopdrachten online is een goede oefening.
