Richard Thompson

Richard Thompson

Year 3 Class Teacher

Having completed both his BA and MA in Theology and Religious Studies at The University of Leeds, York St. John, UK, Richard worked for The Royal Household, and The College of St. George, Windsor Castle, for seven years.  Following on from this exciting chapter, he chose to pursue his long-held ambition to teach, and completed his PGCE at Newman University, UK, in 2013.  Since this time, he has taught in an inner city school in Birmingham in Years 3 and 6, where he has taken on the leadership roles of English Lead and Upper Key Stage 2 Phase Leader.

Richard strives continuously to ensure that all of his students are happy and engaged in their daily lessons.  He believes that student motivation, clear instructions and modelling from teaching staff, and focused student dialogue are key to quality learning.  As he joins the BISS team, he is excited about embracing fresh challenges in order to realise his own full potential as an innovative classroom practitioner.

In his free time, Richard enjoys working in a freelance capacity for Royal Collection Education, relaying exciting pockets of history to young audiences and their families.  He also enjoys walking, running and riding, and going to the theatre.  Perhaps most of all, however, he loves nothing more than reading a really good book!
