Rachel has worked at BISS Puxi for two years. Prior to coming to Shanghai, she taught English at several prestigious universities in Asia and managed the Language Department at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts for a number of years. She has also written and edited educational textbooks for Pearson (Longman) and Oxford University Press (HK).
Rachel speaks Chinese, has a first class degree from the University of Durham, a PhD in English from the University of Oxford, a CELTA and PGCE. Since starting work at BISS Puxi, she has continued her professional education by taking IB teacher training courses, registering as an IB examiner of English Literature and, most recently, has undertaken a Nord Anglia University course in using technology in the classroom.
Being part of an international school is a wonderful opportunity for teachers and students to be part of a truly global community. Learning new things from my students and exchanging information and opinions is what inspires me and what makes life interesting. Being part of a learning community gives me the chance to grow and develop alongside my students, making me a better teacher and a better mentor.
