Our Students are Building an Impressive Reputation Representatives attending the Nord Anglia regional conference visited the secondary section, this week. The guests received a tour of the school from six of our Year 10 students. The principal of the British International School of Ho Chi Minh City, Tim Deyes, commented on how impressed he was by our student guides.

The principal of the British International School of Ho Chi Minh City, Tim Deyes, commented on how impressed he was by our student guides.

His party was led by TRAN Hoang Tue Linh (Year 10 H) who the principal described as a certainty to be a leading light in the marketing world. The Head of Human Resources, Nicky Duggan-Redfearn, also enthused about the maturity of our students. It was also very good for us all to see our former head of secondary, Mr Chris Short, back at British International School Hanoi. He is enjoying his new role as Principal at Dover Court, Singapore, but still misses the great students of the British International School, Hanoi. 

We have had great success in the Hanoi sports tournaments this week. Our middle school boys and girls soccer teams enjoyed impressive victories, whilst our Junior Varsity basketball team won their girls’ match against St. Pauls with a resounding victory. Away at St Pauls, the boys’ basketball team lost a heartbreaking match by 2 points after recovering from a 9-point deficit. After the game the boys were commended by a spectator for the respectful way in which they accepted the loss of the game saying, “Although we did not win...the boys won our heart with respect.”

Thank you to Year 13 parents who attended our parents evening on Tuesday. With just over a month to the January mock exams, it is important to remind our Year 11 IGCSE students and our Year 13 A level students to revise for a minimum of 4 hours per day over the holidays. The students need to recognise that the foundation for final summer examination success is built from December to February. If a student waits until February to start work, they are likely to fail.

Finally, good luck to all the students attending the silver award practice expedition for the international award.  They are camping in Mai Chau, whilst being supervised by Mr Airdrie and a team of 7 teachers.
