Mr Christopher Short Weekly Update 05.02.2016

It is great to be back in school after my week in the UK. I met a lot of excellent teachers and we have since made a number of appointments, more news on this will be shared soon. I also had the opportunity to visit Dormers Lane High School in West London and meet with their Headteacher, Ms Roisin Walsh. Roisin and I went to college together a few years ago now and we haven’t seen each other since. It was an excellent opportunity to discuss our two schools and the differences and similarities in our roles. I had the opportunity to look around the school. Like us it is a new purpose built school serving the local community. There was a charity bake sale happened on the day I visited and it was great to see the same entrepreneurial and community spirit we see at BIS when we do similar events.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Silver qualifying and Gold practice expedition took place last weekend. Staff and students were all back in school on Wednesday morning after a tough but enjoyable hike through the hills around Dalat. With all the cold weather in Hanoi they also enjoyed being warm for a change! My thanks go to Mr Airdrie and the other staff volunteers for supporting this activity.

Reports are issued today for all year groups except Year 9 who have had theirs already. Year 11 – 13 will also receive their mock results.

May I take this opportunity to wish all family a prosperous Tet. Chuc mung nam moi.
