Dear Parents,

It has been a busy week in the Primary school, with the children being on full timetable and starting specialist lessons. Our superhero Captain Care is the theme for this half-term. Caring is one of our six characteristics that are part of our aide-memoire and Captain Care has been spotted around school this week. We have been talking about caring for each other but also how we take care of our belongings, our school and the environment.

Mr. Kevin has been taking lots of care of our British International School, Hanoi Garden and the Year 5 children were lucky enough to go out and help harvest some corn. Getting the opportunity to harvest the corn, look at it carefully, learn about the plant and how it grows really deepens the children’s understanding and brings learning to life for them. These are just some of the ways our teachers enrich the curriculum for our students.

Our first star of the week certificates were handed out to children today for being caring in school and it was wonderful listen to our children talk about acts of kindness and how we can all help each other. As someone new to the school it is wonderful how to see how kind and caring everyone is; staff and students. It reminds me of a quote I read once, “We are not a team because we work together, we are a team because we care, trust and respect each other.”

Next week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we will have our ‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions when you can come in and learn about the year ahead for your  children. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and find out more about the curriculum.

Ms. Fitzpatrick is also organising a Tour of Hanoi for new parents, please register your interest with Ms Hung in the Primary office by either email primaryoffice@bishanoi.com or phone +844 23946 0435/ Ext. 220 by Wednesday 6th September 2017.

Wishing you all a lovely long weekend and a Happy National Day to all our Vietnamese families.

Ms Rebecca Carroll, Head of Primary
