Day 1 (03/04/2018):

After a smooth journey along the new highway, the BIS students arrived safely at their first destination in Cat Ba town. After a lunchtime feast, Group B took a beautiful walk along the harbour ending at the beach for a few hours of fun and games. Lots of sea, sunshine and sand for the Year 8 students who throughly enjoyed making memories, building friendships and getting each other wet!!! An early night for us this evening as we had off tomorrow morning for a full day of exciting activities.

Day 2 (05/04/2018)

Today Group B spent the morning taking part in a community beach clean activity. Students worked extremely hard clearing the beautiful beaches of the mounds of rubbish that wash up from the ocean everyday. They sorted the rubbish into specifics and recorded what they had cleared on the Marine Debris Tracker App. Their hardworking morning was followed by a stunning boat ride through the Cat Ba scenery - beautiful backdrops and sunny skies aplenty, the students arrived at our second destination feeing fulfilled by the mornings activities. This afternoon the students have taken part in a range of activties including cave trekking, cycling, hiking and football. A small group of students successfully conquered the largest peak on the island - being rewarded with amazing views at the top! Another fun filled day awaits the students tomorrow.

Group A started the day with delicious home made pancakes before cycling back to the harbour in Viet Hai. After this, the team enjoyed another beautiful boat ride before the main activities started. The group was split into two with some students starting with kayaking and others climbing; after lunch they swapped. There were several outstanding efforts in both activities and the climbing instructors commented that many of our BIS students have excellent technique! They also gave a demonstration to show how the climbing routes are formed. The students are looking forward to a day at the beach tomorrow before being reunited with group B.

Day 3 (06/04/2018)

Group A:Today the students learnt about the importance of sustainable tourism and gave back to the community by taking part in a beach clean up. They did a great job and we left the beach looking beautiful. After lunch, we took a 20 minute walk to the beach and the students enjoyed an afternoon swimming, playing frisbee and creating sand art. Group B:
Today it was the turn of Group B to take part in the rock climbing and kayaking activities. The students were extremely excited about the prospect of a day filled with adventurous activities. All students took on the rock climbing challenge with some choosing to complete more than one attempt whilst others went straight in on the highest climb from the beginning! The afternoon was spent kayaking through stunning scenery and clear blue waters. This evening the groups reunited for a farewell dinner at a floating restaurant followed by some K Pop talent and a disco. The students are now safely tucked up in bed ready for tomorrow’s journey home. We will see all the parents at school at 2pm to collect their children.
