In order to recruit the best, it is vital that we meet them in person and assess their strengths and areas for professional development. We appraise the qualities they could bring to our school, to add value, and also to see how much they could benefit from the great systems and structures we have in place. Great teachers are always learning and often the best professional development is using the skills and attributes of teachers to share with their colleagues. The teachers we employ bring a high quality with them and as a school we have a responsibility to nurture and strengthen them. It is a great endeavour to appoint the best teachers and build upon what we already have; your children make great progress because we employ creative, innovative team players who collaborate and give your children the best conditions to learn.
That is why I have been in the UK this week and I have been extremely encouraged by the quality of the field of candidates I have been interviewing. Teachers are choosing to come to this school because of our ever-growing reputation and I have been delighted to share just how good we are. As I have discussed in many articles, it is a big decision to move overseas and candidates have to be confident it is the right choice for them as well as them being the right person for us. They always ask what is so special about our school. It is an easy answer: it is the people and the relationships within it. This goes for every member of our community who all strive to create leadership skills in our children that they can use to benefit the future of Hanoi and Vietnam. The children are amazing and we have a wonderful support mechanism to ensure they are safe, happy and making purposeful progress. All of our guards, admin staff, teaching assistants, cleaners, drivers, catering staff and teachers contribute to what makes BVIS Hanoi special. This is the best team for a new teacher to join.
I am really looking forward to spending time with them all again next week and I wish you all a very happy weekend.
