Nord Anglia Education, the world’s leading premium schools organisation, is pleased to announce the establishment of its Education Advisory Board, chaired by world-renowned film producer and educator, Lord David Puttnam.

Nord Anglia’s Education Advisory Board will provide external perspective and vision to further the development of the organisation’s educational offer, supporting Nord Anglia’s global family of 46 schools to continue providing an international education which prepares students to succeed in the world of tomorrow. Specifically, the Board will work closely with Nord Anglia’s leadership team to support the continuous development of Nord Anglia’s programmes and curricula, teachers and learning environments; leading to outstanding academic, social and personal outcomes for every one of its students.

“I am delighted to announce the formation of Nord Anglia’s Education Advisory Board which will offer strategic insight and advice on a broad range of topics to support us in addressing the opportunities and challenges of education today,” said Andrew Fitzmaurice, CEO of Nord Anglia Education. “Two thirds of students starting school today will work in a job that doesn’t currently exist and it is our responsibility as educators to prepare students to succeed in these roles. The Education Advisory Board will help shape the future of our educational offering; ensuring our students develop the knowledge, skills and mindset to thrive as leaders and global citizens in this rapidly changing world.”

Lord David Puttnam is the inaugural Chairman of the Board. Following a highly successful, 30-year career as an independent producer, working on a multitude of award-winning films including The Killing Fields, Chariots of Fire, Midnight Express, Bugsy Malone, The Mission and Local Hero, Lord Puttnam retired from film production in 1998 to focus on his work in public policy as it relates to education, the environment and the creative and communications industries. Lord Puttnam is a passionate advocate for the advancement of education and in addition to his strategic leadership roles, he continues to actively teach in universities around the world today. In 1998 he founded the National Teaching Awards, which he chaired until 2008, also serving as the first Chair of the General Teaching Council from 2000 to 2002. From July 2002 to July 2009 Lord Puttnam, was president of UNICEF UK, playing a key role in promoting UNICEF’s advocacy and awareness objectives.

Lord Puttnam has also accepted the role of Chairman of the School Advisory Board for Nord Anglia International School Dublin which is expected to open in September 2018.

“After twenty five years working in various capacities in the field of education, I’m delighted to join Andrew and his colleagues in attempting to redefine what 21st century excellence in education can come to look like. It’s a really exciting challenge,” said Lord Puttnam.

Over the coming months, Lord Puttnam will work with Nord Anglia CEO, Andrew Fitzmaurice, in gathering a small group of other respected educators to join them on the Board.
