This week we have had the pleasure of hosting the Council of International School (CIS) and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation teams led by Janet Blackwell, a highly experienced school leader. It has been an extremely positive visit which enables a lot of further school reflection and personal reflection. They have been so impressed by the staff and children, their attitudes, positivity, and openness, by what makes our school great.
This gave me time this week to also reflect. It made me think why every time we get a visitor to the school do they say the school has such a warm feel, is so welcoming and purposeful? Of course there are many reasons for this but one of them is definitely your children. What is it that makes a BVIS Hanoi student so special. Why are they so different to any children I have taught before? Why do they never fail to make me smile when I have any contact with them? The simple answer is they are happy, so amazingly happy, safe and cared for; loved. Our school environment is about nurturing your children, about developing them as a whole child and person. We want amazing language and examination results when they leave us of course, but we want them to be equipped for the future. They must be resilient and have a good sense of humour. They will have to adapt to an ever changing world but they have the right attitude. A positivity. Personality, grown in our bicultural and bilingual environment, cherished at home and in school, is what makes your children the best. This is why visitors are inspired by the warmth and care on show. Your children are a pleasure to be around and to guide and to teach. Thank you to them, the parents and also all the staff who make our school so wonderful. CIS have seen it. We see it. Hopefully you witness it to.
Have a great weekend.
