Christmas Performance

The Early Years’ Christmas performance was performed twice this week and the children did a wonderful job!

On Monday, they had a dress rehearsal and the Year 1 and Year 2 pupils came to watch them perform. Everyone was extremely excited to see some of their brothers and sisters up on stage. Year 1 and 2 sat beautifully and made a great audience. They were very impressed with all the singing and even joined in with our last song.

On Wednesday afternoon, parents, friends and families were invited to watch the show. The children learnt lines, songs and actions and some of them even role-played the story. They all had a lot of fun dressing up and some of the outfits were handmade just for the show. Everyone enjoyed taking pictures and filming the show and the children were very proud of their achievement.

We saw sheep, cows, chickens, ducks, camels, innkeepers, teachers, children, angels, a kangaroo, a kitten, a bird, a bee, even a Spiderman, snowman, an alien and an astronaut. The different characters were not only fun to play but educational too, as the children were learning about the initial phonic sounds alongside a game of I-Spy.

Maybe you could sound out some words and play I-Spy with your child at home. The first step when learning to read is to be able to start hearing initial letter sounds at the beginning of words.

Let me take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Christmas!!
