Staff Profile: Claire Bower

Claire Bower

Head of Humanities

BA. (Honours) Human Geography, Lancaster University, UK

PGCE University of Leicester, UK

Claire has been teaching Geography for nearly ten years since graduating from the University of Leicester. Previous responsibilities have included Head of Department, pastoral leadership as Head of Year 11, Head of Lower School Accreditation, Assistant Leader for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Debate Judge and Coordinator for the World Scholar’s Cup Hong Kong and Global Rounds and Regional Coordinator for the British Council’s International Schools project in Zambia.

Claire loves to travel and see the world and most of all to sample the cuisine! Last summer, she worked with Talk Maths UK to develop more interactive Social Sciences classes for a school district in rural Uganda where she worked for 5 weeks with local teachers. Claire is also keen on sports and outdoor activities. She has completed 3 seasons playing hockey and netball in Hong Kong as well as taking up Dragon Boat training for Hong Kong competitions in the last two years. Claire also loves outdoor activities and has taught navigation skills, and camp craft as well as being an avid hiker, recently completing all 78 km of Hong Kong’s Wilson Trail.
