James Shaw

Head of Maths

Education with Mathematics BA (Hons), Homerton College, University of Cambridge

PGCE in Secondary Mathematics, Corpus Christi College, University of Oxford

James is a keen and well-respected Mathematician.  Since qualifying to become a teacher, James has worked in a variety of teaching and leadership positions in Cornwall, London and Ho Chi Minh City. Most recently he was the Curriculum Leader for Mathematics at the British School of Milan, Italy.

He strongly believes in the importance of all students making outstanding progress through having opportunities to develop rich mathematical thinking in an inspiring and supporting environment which promotes both independent and collaborative skills.

Outside of the classroom he has a wide variety of interests including football, skiing, windsurfing and fishing. He also enjoys studying Vietnamese, and whilst working in Ho Chi Minh City was given the opportunity to speak at universities and on television.
