November Seminar – The Speakers

The November seminar, that will take place on 24 November at 6pm, will be presented by a leading education consultant Ms Natalie Pham, supported, by BVIS’s Head of Secondary Mr Simon Graves, and will focus on comparing the three most popular types of international education: US, UK, and IB curricula

1. Dr. Natalie Pham, PhD, Educator, Social Entrepreneur and Philanthropist

  Dr Pham is a renowned American – Vietnamese educator, social entrepreneur and philanthropist. With nearly two decades of experience in international education, Natalie has been an administrator at multiple educational institutions in the US and Vietnam. She also consults and teaches at universities and schools, and trains teachers in the US, Canada, Costa Rica, China, India and Vietnam. Specifically, she develops workshops for educator training and creates a toolkit for effective teaching, which includes materials for professional development and teacher evaluation in Vietnam. She is also one of the executives at AMA Foundation, which awards scholarships to underprivileged students who aspire to be teachers at the University of Pedagogy in Ho Chi Minh City, Hue and Da Nang. Natalie resides in Vietnam with her two daughters who are 4 and 6 years old. Her hobbies include positive psychology, mentoring, reading, tennis, golf and travelling.

2. Mr Simon Graves, Head of Secondary at BVIS

  Simon has been teaching for twenty years, and has held  a senior leadership role for the last ten years, mainly in multi-cultural schools in Birmingham, London and Nottingham. He has also taught in Canada and studied as an undergraduate in the USA. Through his experience working for a range of schools Simon has an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the different types of curricula, and there particular strengths and weaknesses. He has an MBA in International Educational Leadership through the Institute of Education in London, focusing on raising achievement of students in both the UK and the US. Simon has been Head of Secondary at the British Vietnamese International School since August 2014.
