Year 4′s exit point of the “Explorers and Adventurers” topic

As we reach the end of term, Primary children are coming to the end of their current Lien Ket topics. Throughout the year we will be holding Lien Ket “exit points” and inviting parents to come into school to find out what their children have been learning and to experience some of the activities that have been carried out in class.

What is an “exit point” in Lien Ket?

Lien Ket is our unique name for the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) as taught at BVIS. The IPC website describes the learning process involved in each topic or unit of work as follows:

“The Learning Process

There is a distinct learning process with every IPC unit, providing a structured approach to make sure that children’s learning experiences are as stimulating and rigorous as possible.”

“No one can properly predict the nature of work that will be available for today’s primary age children by the time they are adults. Many of the jobs they will have simply don’t yet exist, especially in the fields of ICT, technology and science. So the principle of the IPC is to focus on personal, academic and international learning that will prepare children, wherever they may live, for the world of tomorrow.”

The exit point could be an event, experience or activity that is designed to bring the unit of work to a close.  It celebrates or reinforces the learning that has taken place. An excellent way to do this is to provide an opportunity for the children to share their learning with their parents.

This week Year 4 parents were invited to the exit point of the “Explorers and Adventurers” topic in the Year 4 classrooms.

How to find out more about Lien Ket

We will be holding a coffee morning about Lien Ket next term. Coffee mornings are provided to help you learn about our curriculum as well as experience for yourselves how your children learn here at the British Vietnamese International School.

Also, do read the learning overviews on your child’s year group blog for weekly information about the learning that is taking place in Lien Ket.
