6/ International Children’s Digital Library


This is the library for our global citizens! Children’sLibrary. org has a large collection of books for online viewing. Many appear to be unique classic works that are finely illustrated. Books can be filtered by age, length and fiction/non-fiction. If you can read in Chinese, Korean or another language, you may find some books in your own language.

7/Popular Children’s Books


This is a nice collection of stories for children available for free reading online without registration. Most are short stories, with some longer ones. There are numerous stories ranging from animal adventures and fairy tales to educational and Christmas stories. Children, parents and teachers can travel to distant places and let imaginations run wild. The stories are ranked and assigned a rating of 1 (worst) – 5 (best).



Wikijunior aims to produce age-appropriate non-fiction books for children from birth to age 12. These books are richly illustrated with photographs, diagrams, sketches and original drawings. Wikijunior books are produced by a worldwide community of writers, teachers, students and young people all working together. The books present factual information that is verifiable.

11/Goodnight Stories


This has stories, songs, jokes, games and more! GoodnightStories is a small collection of unique children’s stories for reading online. A good number of the stories were written by children. Some other activities and printable colouring pages are also available.

12/ TumbleBook Cloud Collections


The Huntley Library offers free access to the excellent collections of Tumble Books. The TumbleBook Library and TumbleBook Jr., collections are the best selections for younger readers. There are read-a-longs and other reading learning features available. All are available for free reading online.

13/ Aesop Fables Online


This offers a collection of Aesop’s fables, with illustrations from students in the Computing in the Fine Arts course for online viewing.

14/BritishCouncil – Learn English Kids


The British Council has a very nice collection of flash animated song and audio read-a-long stories. In this section you will find lots of animated songs, stories, cartoons and videos. You can play the vocabulary games before you watch, then download an activity as well. You can also practise your speaking with their fun tongue twisters. They have also posted the stories on YouTube.
