A very warm welcome to all our new families who have joined BVIS this term! We are delighted to welcome you to our Early Years and Primary community here at BVIS.
An equally warm “welcome back” to all our other families! We hope you had a restful, fun break from school routines. I know many of you travelled for some or part of the school holidays so we hope your trips were enjoyable and refreshing. I travelled home to the UK and had a very busy time meeting up with friends and spending quality time with my family.
Our term 2 clubs programme begins in a few weeks’ time on Monday 25th January. Ms Tam has emailed you about signing up using the CHQ system. If you need some assistance with this, please do not hesitate to contact her. We hope that all Year 1 – Year 6 children will participate in the programme this term.
We have started the term with our International Week – a great way to make good use of a ‘half week’ and an excellent focus for the beginning of the new term, helping to develop the core skills and understanding for your children as young “global citizens”.
International Week began on Wednesday with a short assembly so that the whole school could find out where in the world each year group is learning about:
Early Years: China
Years 1 and 2: Australia OR South Korea
Year 3: United States of America (specifically Hawaii and New York)
Year 4: Europe (specifically Spain and Italy)
Year 5: Africa (specifically Egypt, South Africa and Tanzania)
Year 6: South America (specifically Peru and Bolivia)
Enquiry based, collaborative learning has taken place every day and the week ended with a sharing assembly when just a little of the learning in each year group was shared with the whole school.
