Secondary Update

It was a spooky start to the week with the Student Council running a Halloween mask competition on Monday. Students of all ages competed in houses to produce the scariest mask, with some ghoulish results….

Last Friday, our A level students had a slightly more cultured artistic experience, going on Sophie’s Tour around Saigon.

There are more trips coming up, of course, with the year group residential. Remember, these are included already in your fees so there’s nothing to pay! More importantly, they give students a fantastic opportunity to develop skills and have experiences that they never have before. It surprises them every year when they realise that with a little courage and determination they can achieve so much. Parents’ meetings for these trips begin this week, so please do try to attend if you’d like any questions or concerns answered.

Our girls’ U19 volleyball team took part in the City Championships this week, and as always acquitted themselves incredibly well.

But it’s not only sporting success our teams are having: at the weekend, our year 12 and 13 students took part in the Saigon Maths Challenge, coming a creditable fifth overall, but with a year 10 student, Ben, placing an incredible 3rd in the individual competition!

Finally, back to art, and I’d like to say a massive welcome back to our Art Subject Leader, Ms Emily Lavender, who is flying back to Vietnam this weekend and will be back in school on Monday following a lengthy illness. We can’t wait to see her and I know all of the students will be thrilled. Ms Maddalozzo is with us for another week yet though before we sadly have to say our goodbyes to her.

Have a wonderful weekend.
