Secondary Maths Stars

Two  pieces of great news from the maths department this week. Firstly, last Saturday nine of our KS3 students took part in the Saigon Junior Mathematics Competition held at SSIS. This competition features teams of three competing against the top mathematicians from many of the international schools in Saigon. Students must work together to solve extremely challenging problems. Congratulations to all three of our teams who finished in 6

Particular congratulations to Nguyen Minh Vinh Ky from Year 7 who finished 3

Secondly, we also received the results of the UKMT Junior Mathematics competition this week. This is an individual paper sat by the top mathematicians in KS3 from around the globe. Students are given a certificate prize based on their total score. As a school we entered 14 Year 8 and 4 Year 7 students and of these students the certificates attained were as follows: 4 Gold awards, 6 Silver and 5 Bronze. This is a fantastic achievement and huge congratulations to all involved.
