World Book Day Celebrations

This week we celebrated “World Book Day” in the Primary School. Our young BVIS global citizens joined children all around the world in reading and book related activities:

  • Year 5 and Year 6 children and Secondary students read or performed stories to our youngest children.

  • On Thursday we welcomed author Nguyen Thuy Anh to Early Years and Key Stage 1 classes. Ms Thuy Anh was so impressed with our children and their creative ideas that she is considering using some of their ideas for her future books!

  • Key Stage 2 held their annual “Speech and Poetry Competition” on Thursday evening. The audience enjoyed a variety of excellent poetry recitation performances from the Year 3 and Year 4 finalists and a range of speeches by the Year 5 and Year 6 finalists. Topics ranged from “Donald Trump” to “My Grandmother.” Congratulations to all the finalists and winners.

  • The BVIS bookshop has also been open for business.
  • The celebrations ended with our special assembly on Friday morning. BVIS grandparents were invited to attend and enjoyed songs, book character costume parades and some of the winning performances from the “Speech and Poetry Competition”.
