Last weekend 3 year 12 students from BVIS attended the first Nord Anglia Student Leadership Conference at BIS HCMC.  The conference focused on many aspects of leadership but its main theme was on ‘Ethical Leadership’

Right from the start of the weekend the students were challenged to think about what ethical leadership is through a series of challenging decision-making scenarios.  This brought about great opportunities to discuss decision making and the distinct types of decision that can be made.

The first afternoon was full of working in teams in practical leadership tasks which were physical, challenging and a lot of fun. The students were then given the opportunity to reflect on lessons learnt.

Day 2 began where day one left of with more work on leadership and personal strengths, this being related to the students own schools and how they can enhance student leadership.  The rest of the conference was directed towards practical things that our student leaders could do to encourage leadership within BVIS and using global goals as a means to developing decision making and presentation skills.

Over all, this conference was a great success giving our students the opportunity to mix with 4 other schools from the Nord Anglia family where they made many friends.  The students are looking forward to other opportunities to get involved in the student leadership programme.

The next opportunity being, early September in Bangkok.  Students with an interest in developming their understanding of leadership should see Mr Livesey for details of the opportunities open to them.
