A NEW VIRTUAL WORKSHOP

Summer Performing Arts with Juilliard has provided unforgettable experiences for students around the world since 2016. As part of our ongoing commitment to providing meaningful arts experiences, the Winter Festival was created to bring more high-quality performing arts instruction to students across the world.

In our virtual studios, students will build on their skills and artistry in dance, piano, or musical theater through personal instruction in individual and group settings.

Students will work with Juilliard artist faculty in studio lessons or coachings, group masterclasses, creative workshops, and topical seminars focused on the professional industry. The programming will feature a mix of skills-based and creative studies of the highest caliber to help students develop their full artistic range.  Through an infusion of new ideas, students will advance their ongoing performing arts trajectory while getting a taste of the full Summer Performing Arts with Juilliard experience. After only two days of intensive study, students will walk away with a deeper connection to their artform, propelling them forward in their practice.

Dance

Students will explore creative development through improvisation, choreography, and performance technique in a positive, inspiring virtual environment. Led by Laura Careless (Juilliard alumna), this course is appropriate for a wide range of technical levels and home spaces.

Workshop Features:

  • 30-minute private coaching
  • Technique classes in ballet or modern
  • Group seminars including Choreographers of Today
  • Phrase work learning choreography and developing performance technique
  • Choreography project developing both creative and technical skills

Musical Theater
Musical Theatre

Under the direction of Matt Cahill (Juilliard alumnus) this program is designed to introduce students to the foundations of singing, acting, and dancing for musical theater at the professional level. This program is appropriate for all levels of students who are passionate about developing their highest caliber of performance in musical theater and connecting with an international community of artists.

  • 30-minute Private Voice Lesson
  • Large Group Master Classes
  • Small Group Breakout Sessions in both Acting & Singing
  • Learning Broadway Dance repertoire
  • Topics to be covered: Posture and breath for singing, authentic storytelling in song and movement, audition techniques, how to make a “self-tape”, and how to calm your nerves and be “grounded”

Under the direction of Vivian Chang (Juilliard alumna), this programme is designed for pianists who aim to develop their artistry, build confidence in performing, and engage artistically with other young musicians. Students will receive personalized instruction through the study of repertoire that is near performance-ready to help advance and polish their technique and expression.

  • Group seminars covering various topics such as practice techniques, performance anxiety, memorization, and body awareness.
