Neil joined The British International School Shanghai, Puxi in August 2016 as principal following a successful year at Dover Court International School Singapore. He has been headteacher of 5 UK schools and in 2009 he was designated a DfE National Leader of Education for outstanding leadership.
For the past ten years he has also been an honorary visiting lecturer at the Universities of Manchester, Birmingham and Warwick. Neil was a member of the University of Cambridge Primary Review Steering Committee and has also been a contributor to numerous UK DfE initiatives including the then Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s Digital Home Access plan and the DfE’s Educational Technology Action Group. As a former Trustee and Director of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust Neil has had regular meetings with the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, the Secretary of State for Education, DfE and Ofqual to help to develop national strategy.
Neil has worked as a consultant leader on the National College of School Leadership programme for many years including the Strategic Leadership of ICT, Building Schools of the Future and the Developing Leaders for Tomorrow programmes. Neil has worked nationally with 15 Local Authorities in the UK and internationally with schools in Australia, America, South Africa and Canada on pedagogy, negotiated learning and engaged learning.
