Matthew is a highly respected and experienced educationalist with 30 years of experience as a school leader and teacher, the latter fourteen being in the international arena.
Matthew joined Nord Anglia International School Dubai in August 2016 following two successful years at the British International School Bratislava. Previously, he was the Founding Headmaster of Harrow International School in Beijing which opened in 2004. He successfully led the growth of the school to over 850 students and drove outstanding academic results. Matthew firmly believes in the importance of a rounded approach to education and developed the school enrichment programme with a strong focus on extra-curricular activities, expeditions, international–mindedness and leadership. While in this post, he also served as the Vice Chair of the Federation of British Schools in Asia.
Prior to his time in Beijing, Matthew was a school leader at Harrow International School Bangkok for five years and before that held a variety of teaching roles in the UK, Kuwait and Bosnia. Matthew has an MA in English Language and Literature from Oriel College, Oxford, an MA in Linguistics and English Language Teaching, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and holds the National Professional Qualification for Headship. Matthew is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts
