Esther Keenan

Nursery (FS1) Teacher

Mrs. Keenan studied PGCE Early Years at The University of Exeter, her BA degree is in Early Childhood Studies, and joined the school in 2016.

As a Newly Qualified Teacher, my first teaching job was in inner London.  This vibrant, aspirational school set the highest expectations for every single pupil and member of staff.  The school was recognised nationally for its achievements; it was here that I developed my ambitious approach to teaching.  I soon secured my first leadership position leading the Foundation Stage.  Following a move back home to the rolling hills of Devon, I worked in two further schools, in Exeter and in Newton Abbot, also leading Foundation Stages.

As a family we decided that we were ready explore another part of the world together, to embark upon an adventure.  As parents we were immediately drawn to the family feel of Abu Dhabi.  As parents and as teachers we were immediately drawn to Nord Anglia’s philosophy, ‘Be Ambitious’.

I have 3 young children who are my constant inspiration as an Early Years Teacher.  As a family we enjoy travelling; both exploring new places in the world and visiting our family who are spread across 3 continents!  We love to ski and my children are fast approaching and exceeding my own limited ski ability and ski style!  As a busy parent, I spend most of my time indulging in my children’s interests, so I have learnt a lot about rugby, ballet and swimming in the last few years!

Whilst in Abu Dhabi we hope to experience more travel, there is so much to see in the world.  I hope that our move to UAE will teach my children not only about new cultures, architecture and ways of life, but that taking risks makes us better learners.  New friendships, self-confidence and a belief that you can achieve your goals by working hard are invaluable outcomes of our family adventure.
