I had been teaching primary age children for 16 years in several different schools in Kent, UK before moving to Abu Dhabi in 2012.
I had a keen interest in gardening, arts & crafts and sports. Many of these hobbies I liked to share with my students through afterschool activities. I took 2 years out to settle myself and my family into our new lives here in Abu Dhabi. My children have been at BIS Abu Dhabi since we arrived and love it. I became involved with the school as a class parent, helping out at events and listening to readers in the primary classes. I also became involved with Sandy Paws, a local animal charity within two weeks of landing. I had my first foster cat before our furniture arrived! I also discovered my love of painting and regularly disappear into my art studio for hours at a time.
I was encouraged to join a new nursery opening in 2014 to teach the pre-school class and to develop and support the EYFS curriculum. I haven’t looked back! I love working with the very young children. It is amazing to watch them explore and learn things I think sometimes, we as adults, take for granted. I’m certainly seeing the world through fresh eyes.
I joined BIS Abu Dhabi in 2017 as a natural progression of my new career. My children are very happy at the school so I knew I would be too. For me, there is no better school in Abu Dhabi.
