After qualifying with a BA Hons in Design and Technology with QTS, I began my 17 year teaching career in my home county of Nottinghamshire. With a love of travel, a desire to experience other cultures, and a passion for teaching. I began an international journey which led me to work in Oman, Bermuda, Spain, Syria and most recently Nigeria. During my career I have worked with children across the whole primary age range (even stretching at times into secondary) teaching, coordinating, leading other staff and running my own educational business. This rich experience of working across a range of different curricula is the foundation of my position as Head of Early Years at BIS Abu Dhabi. I very much believe that Early Years education is the essential groundwork needed for children to develop the academic and social skills which provide confidence throughout their lives. Such development can only occur when we, as educators, believe in our children and set high standards of learning from the very beginning of their educational journey. Working with children in partnership with their parents is a privilege and I am thrilled to be part of the BIS Abu Dhabi family. I look forward to making a positive contribution to the future of the school.
I joined BIS Abu Dhabi with my husband, Shane and my three children, Lucy, Tom and Sebastien. We are all very enthusiastic about the opportunities offered by the school community and country itself. I feel that a work-life balance is important and in addition to working and enjoying time with my family, I love to run and have recently competed in quarter marathons and I am hoping to reach my goal of a half marathon in Abu Dhabi. I also get lots of enjoyment and relaxation from reading and playing the piano and saxophone. I have very happy memories of living in Muscat, camping and exploring the outdoors and I look forward with great anticipation to sharing such experiences with my husband and my children in Abu Dhabi.
