My first job was with a lovely primary school in my home county of Cumbria, teaching a mixed year 2 and 3 class. There were only 5 teachers at the school and It soon became a happy working family and as a consequence I worked there for 9 years.
I first heard about The British International School Abu Dhabi through an old college friend who was also a Teacher at the school and always thought that I had had missed my chance to work abroad with having two children, but after hearing that my friend had taken her family abroad, this helped me to realise that I too can fulfil a life-long dream of teaching in another country.
After reading about The British International School Abu Dhabi and how teachers here deliver an excellent curriculum, I decided this was the place to help me to grow and develop as a teacher and for my three children Ethan, Adam and Phoebe to grow and develop as pupils.
I have always been passionate about teaching right from an early age, as my mother was a teacher. At every opportunity I went into local schools and quickly decided that I wanted to be the one that children looked up to. The same year that I graduated I married my husband Stephen who is a builder by trade. Two years on we had our first child Ethan then followed by Adam two years after that. Both attend Bis Abu Dhabi. Phoebe my youngest was born in Abu Dhabi in 2015 and completes our family.
As a family we enjoy travelling and as my husband is a keen fly fisherman our holidays have always involved visiting fishing sites or a boat trip out at sea for deep sea fishing. We all love our lives here in Abu Dhabi and love the relaxed way of life. Coming to work is such a joy and I feel blessed to be working with such a fantastic team who all share the same drive and passion for teaching as I do.
