Year 2 Teacher

Ms Millington joined BIS Abu Dhabi in 2015 with experience in teaching in both KS1 and KS2.

I studied history at The University of Kent, along with modules in American studies, Italian and computing. Following graduation and a successful career in banking, I felt the time was right to fulfil my ambition of becoming a teacher. I trained in two very different settings, covering both KS1 and KS2 and taught in year two in a large primary school for four years. During this time I was involved in staff coaching and development programmes and took on the role of English Co-ordinator for KS1. I was delighted to be part of a Ofsted inspection, whereby my school achieved good results.

I am a strong believer in having a constant string of goals and aiming high. For this reason, I am always looking to challenge myself. This led me to training for and completing the London marathon in 2013 and eventually led me to fulfilling a lifelong ambition of working and living abroad, by applying to work in Abu Dhabi. I love to travel and have a world map in which I stick pins to show every country or state I have visited. I would have to say that travelling around West Coast America for 3 weeks has been my favourite experience (so far). I also love reading, films and music.

BIS Abu Dhabi appealed to me because I have never worked in such a diverse and multicultural setting, boasting so many different nationalities and, as one who loves the opportunity to experience other countries and cultures, I enjoy being part of a ‘Global Campus’ and interacting with the 43 other Nord Anglia schools across the world.
I love being part of a family community and being part of the Nord Anglia Education team, where I can share my experiences and expertise, as well as continuing to develop my own professional skills.

I love teaching smaller class sizes, as for the previous four years, I'd taught classes of 30 pupils. Although I make it a priority to get to know every child on a personal basis, I feel that given the smaller class sizes at BIS Abu Dhabi, I am able to focus further on tapping into individual’s interests, talents and personal needs. My relationship with the children is so important to me and something I am passionate about.
