Year 3 Teacher

Miss McIver studied for her Bachelor of Education (Hons) Degree at The University of Edinburgh in Scotland, and joined the school in 2015.

I have always known that I wanted to teach in a Primary School. I studied for my Bachelor of Education (Hons) Degree at The University of Edinburgh in Scotland. I spent my first year of teaching in a small town outside of Edinburgh called Penicuik. I have taught in several schools around this area and taught classes ranging from Year 1 to Year 6. Moving between year groups has increased my knowledge and confidence teaching both KS1 and KS2 pupils.

During my last teaching post I was Numeracy and ICT Co-ordinator for my school. I participated in a Number Academy, which involved research on the Stages of Early Arithmetical Learning and putting this into practice in the classroom. As ICT co-ordinator I was instrumental in providing learning experiences using iPads in the classroom.

I enjoy reading, sketching and photography in my free time. I have a keen interest in all genres of films and I love to share my ‘movie-making’ skills with my students! I have family in both Ireland and Scotland and I enjoy spending my time between both places. I have a rescue dog called Max who lives in Ireland and I love taking him for long walks along the beach.
