I have been teaching for 15 years and my experience lies mainly in KS2. Most of my teaching experience has been in schools with a high majority of EAL pupils in inner city schools in the UK.
Having started as a newly qualified teacher, many opportunities were afforded to me to take on leadership roles, which culminated in me being an Assistant Head Teacher for 3 years.I have also been a Literacy, Numeracy, Science, ICT, Social and Emotional curriculum leader over the years.
My strengths lie in developing staff professionally and supporting them to display the wealth of experience they bring to the schools I have worked in. Whilst working full-time, I also completed my Masters Degree in Emotional Intelligence in Inner City Schools.
The international setting was the next step in my career and to add another dimension to my repertoire of experience and skills. A change from the UK was definitely on the cards.
I have a weird obsession with travelling and aeroplanes – jumbo jets to be more precise! I have been known to take myself to airports, even if not going anywhere and just get absorbed in the whole air travel vibe…..strange I know. I am also a keen abstract painter and use this hobby to connect my life experiences and that of others – to enhance and appreciate the situations that leave me very humbled.
This School is different to all others I have worked at because we have well travelled children, who bring so many experiences to their own world of education. As a culture, we learn about the Middle East and can absorb and adopt that into our ethos, teaching and very high standards.
