Having completed a (BA hons) degree in English literature and History in 2009, I embarked on my PGCE in Liverpool Hope University that same year. Since graduating in 2010, as a primary school teacher, I have taught in Ireland, Serbia and the UK and I am very much enjoying the new challenges and excitement that teaching at The British International School Abu Dhabi is bringing.
For two years I taught a mixed Year 5 and Year 6 class in South East London. This was in direct contrast to the Year 1 class I had been teaching in Serbia the year before. I enjoyed transferring across key stages and have benefited from the variety of experiences having taught in both key stages has afforded me. I have acted as whole school Literacy Coordinator. Promoting a love of English, reading children’s writing across the school and creating a school anthology of children’s writing endeavours have been some of the most inspiring aspects of that role.
Prior experience teaching in an international school and all of the opportunities this brought prompted me to decide to work within this environment once more. I am thrilled that I am now part of the The British International School Abu Dhabi community and love working with the passionate and outstanding teachers in this school.
I am a sociable, fun-loving person and family is very important to me. My sister is also a teacher in Abu Dhabi so I enjoy spending more time with her. I love to travel and exploring new cultures is a passion of mine.
