After a successful career in Mechanical and Electrical engineering, I decided to return to full-time education to pursue my love of Science. I attained my Masters of Science at Southampton University before gaining my PGCE at Brighton University. I worked for ten years in Brighton at a vibrant, forwarding thinking school, gaining comprehensive knowledge of the English National Curriculum and teaching Science throughout the age and ability range. During this time, I specialised in developing programmes in partnership with Sussex University for ‘Gifted’ Scientists across a range of secondary schools.
Transferring to an international setting, I taught Science and Mathematics in New Zealand for five years before joining Nord Anglia Education as Head of Science at the British International School Budapest. I have extensive experience of teaching Biology, Physics and Chemistry at IGCSE level and Physics and Chemistry at IB and ‘A’ level. In addition to classroom teaching, I have enjoyed being a Head of Year on two continents and have held leadership positions in the UK and internationally.
I am enjoying being part of the team at The British International School Abu Dhabi and contributing with passion and energy to the department. My particular interest is enquiry based learning which allows every student to be a creative explorer of Science. It is important to me that I continue my career and employ my expertise at a premium school like my wife who is also a member of the English department.
I love all things water, and during my time in New Zealand became an enthusiastic surfer. I'm loving all the water sports I can pursue in Abu Dhabi, as well as enjoying the sunshine of course.
