I have been in teaching for the last 16 years, and encourage a holistic, multi-disciplinary approach to learning in my classes. Since performing with the Manchester Youth Theatre and graduating from the University of Wales with an Honours Degree in Drama, I have taught Drama, English, Film and Media from Year 7 to IB and 'A' Level, including positions at International and Grammar Schools in Portugal, Belgium, the UK and Malaysia.
My passion for Drama and Performance stems from an interest in Psychology and how individuals develop according to their physical and emotional environment. I am keen to ensure that every student feels empowered in the creative process, encouraging a collaborative approach, and have participated in Drama workshops in Europe, Asia and Africa to share ideas and skills with other practitioners.
As an actor and director, my work has incorporated everything from Shakespeare to British Pantomime and South East Asian Theatre, but I would like to develop work inspired by the UAE. As someone from un-sunny Yorkshire in the North of England, I’m keen to enjoy Abu Dhabi’s sunny climate and the stunning combination of manmade and natural environments. I look forward to welcoming all members of the BIS Abu Dhabi community to some equally dazzling Drama productions and musicals!
Aside from Theatre, from a very early age, I have loved reading, and I can often be found poolside with my Kindle whilst my daughter is swimming. Whilst in Malaysia I discovered snorkelling, which opened up a whole new world for me. I had my first holiday abroad when I was 12 and was immediately bitten by the travel bug! I am an animal lover, and have a particular soft spot for cats.
