I studied piano at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff for 4 years. Whilst I was there, I had an active role at college, regularly performing with my piano trio in masterclasses and other functions on a freelance basis. The highlight of my time at college was when my Piano Trio won the Cavatina prize for chamber music during my final year.
I then went on to study and complete my teacher training which successfully led to my first post as a music teacher in a school in the Merseyside area of the UK. Having spent 3 years teaching in this school, I then chose to move overseas to South East Asia, where I spent the five years in Vietnam initially as a Head of Department at the British International School HCMC, then progressed to a whole school responsibility of Director of Music.
I have musically directed eight musicals, arranged instrumental masterclass’s with professional musicians, hosted a FOBISIA Music festival, which included 15 participating schools in SE Asia and arranged our annual Whole School Spring Concert, which encompasses 430 student musicians performing.
I came to BIS Abu Dhabi as I wanted to take on new challenges and experience a new culture.
As a musician I enjoy attending concerts and more recently have been involved in the Ho Chi Minh City International Orchestra, where I play my Viola at their annual concerts. I am a huge musical enthusiast and when I return to the UK, I make it a priority to attend the West End for a musical or two. I enjoy swimming on a regular basis as my form of fitness and in the past have a tendency to swim before school in the morning as I feel it sets me up for the day ahead. I enjoy travelling and have spent many of my holidays travelling SE Asia and I'm enjoying my adventures in the Middle East.
