Having always had an interest in travel and the way in which different societies live, I chose to study Anthropology and Sociology at University. After finishing my degree, I spent two months on a volunteer project in Uganda, working with a small education based charity. It was great working alongside other volunteers and local teachers supporting learning in the classrooms.

I am currently in the process of completing my role as a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT), after having completed my PGCE last July. I chose to start my teaching career by becoming a local supply teacher, in the surrounding areas of my hometown in England. I felt as though I could gain a lot of valuable experience through working in a variety of schools with students of varying ages and abilities. I initially began my post as a Year 2 teacher at NAISAK since January and I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching and working with the NAISAK team. All of the children are eager to learn which allows me to teach to a high standard whilst encouraging the children to be ambitious in their learning. I have started this term as a Year 1 teacher full of enthusiasm and new ideas.

I am from Kronberg, which is a small town in the countryside of Frankfurt, Germany. That’s where my parents live and where my school career began. I did my A-levels in 1996 in Language, Art, Geography and Numeracy. Before I started my career as a Primary Teacher I worked as a nurse at the Women’s Hospital in Heidelberg. I always wanted to work with children and initially I wanted to become a pediatrician, which turned out to be a bit too emotional for me, as I like to see happy children. In 1999, I went back to university to study Primary Education and various subjects to become a teacher. I graduated from the University of Education, Heidelberg (Germany) in 2006 and since then have been teaching in various schools.

I completed my BA at Rhodes University in South Africa in 2010 in English Literature and Psychology before going on to study my PGCE in teaching English as a home language and as an additional language. After spending two years in the USA, I decided to join my family in Qatar and applied for a teaching position at NAISAK. I have taught Year 2 for two years at NAISAK and enjoy working with this age group immensely.  I will be teaching Year 2 again this year and I am looking forward to working with this age group again.

I studied for my degree in English Literature with Electronic Creative Technology in the city of Liverpool. I graduated with a 2:1 and decided to pursue my career as a Primary School Teacher. In 2012, I graduated Liverpool Hope University with QTS in Primary School Teaching. After my degree, I took a career break and worked in a bank. Working for the bank did not provide me with a challenging work environment and so I went to work for Liverpool City Council as a Supply Teacher. This gave me the opportunity to visit many different classrooms and teach a variety of different children. During my supply work, I discovered that teaching is truly the career for me as I enjoy helping children learn.

Having graduated from The University of Aberdeen with a MA (hons) in Primary Education in 2015, I worked in Elgin, Scotland, for a year working with a composite Year 2/3 class. During my time at University, I undertook a series of placements gaining valuable teaching experience with children from Year 2 to year 6. Having gained my initial qualification in June of 2015, I embarked on completeing my Masters Degree and am currently researching the benefits and features of a reflective practitioner which will develop the skills I can bring to the classroom. The experiences I have had in Scotland have been fantastic and the next step for me was to experience a new curriculum and learn from other practioners from around the world.

I completed my BA Hons in Childhood and Family Studies at the University of Wolverhampton in the UK. I came back to Qatar where I completed my PGCE distance learning through the University of Sunderland. As part of my PGCE course I had to be employed at a school to complete my teaching training hours. This is how I became employed with Nord Anglia International School Al Khor, which at that time was Compass International School, Al Khor. I began my employment with this school as a Learning Assistant five years ago. Once I had qualified, I began teaching in a Reception class, moving onto teaching Year 1 and now teaching Year 2.

I joined NAISAK in January 2015, and I am currently the Year 3 Leader and Learning Leader of Literacy. I completed a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Education, with a History specialism, in London, in 2011. After completing my degree, I worked in the outskirts of London, teaching in the Borough of Hounslow. I taught there for just over two years, in a Year 5 class where I was the coordinator of PE and the leader of my faculty. I then moved to Melbourne, Australia, working as a Primary Teacher, teaching a range of year groups. I decided to move to Qatar to enrich my experiences both personally and professionally by exploring a new country and culture. I am very lucky to start studying for my Masters Degree this year through Nord Anglia Education in conjunction with King’s College London. I am excited about my future here and am proud to be a part of the journey from CISAK to NAISAK.

My name is Justine Shields. I am 23 years old. I have just completed my PGCE in Primary Education specialising in Modern Foreign Languages. I moved to Lancaster (UK) from Galway (Ireland) to complete my PGCE course. Previously, I completed a four year Bachelor of Arts (International) degree in English Literature and French in the National University of Ireland. I am really looking forward to inspiring the children of the NAISAK community to allow them to be the happiest they can be in their learning, which will eventually affect all aspects of their lives. I love travelling and have lived in France for more than a year of my life. I love exploring new places which continuously open my mind to the diversity of the world, which I hope to bring to all of the children I teach.
