I joined the NAISAK team in August this year, and I am currently the Year 5 teacher. This will be my third year of teaching, where prior to that I worked as a Year 5 and 6 teacher for two years at a school in Lincolnshire. I completed a three year degree in Sports Development and Coaching at Lincoln University and obtained my PGCE at Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln a year later.
I have always felt very passionate about teaching from a young age. I love to develop the knowledge of young children and see them grow and develop through school. I love to inspire children and allow them to express themselves through the new skills they have obtained in and outside of the classroom. It is important to me to provide each child the time and attention needed to build up a strong relationship based on trust, respect and a shared passion for teaching and learning. By building these relationships, it provides a safe environment for the children to learn, make mistakes and encourages dialogue between myself and the children, which I believe to be a key effective teaching and learning process. I ensure I value each individual child and take full account of their strengths and needs. I like to set challenging work to allow children to reach their full capabilities but also differentiate where necessary to ensure all children are working at a level suitable for them.
Outside the classroom I love to cook. I love taking a recipe and trying out different ingredients to enhance my culinary skills. I also love spending time with my friends and family. Eating out at new restaurants and going on day trips with them is something I will miss when I move abroad. I have always wanted to teach abroad at some point in my career. Having the opportunity to work in the Middle East really appealed to me because I want to see as much of the world as possible. Being able to experience a different culture is an opportunity I will certainly benefit from. I look forward to starting a new chapter of my teaching career at NAISAK.
