Justine Shields

Year 3 Teacher

My name is Justine Shields. I am 23 years old. I have just completed my PGCE in Primary Education specialising in Modern Foreign Languages. I moved to Lancaster (UK) from Galway (Ireland) to complete my PGCE course. Previously, I completed a four year Bachelor of Arts (International) degree in English Literature and French in the National University of Ireland. I am really looking forward to inspiring the children of the NAISAK community to allow them to be the happiest they can be in their learning, which will eventually affect all aspects of their lives. I love travelling and have lived in France for more than a year of my life. I love exploring new places which continuously open my mind to the diversity of the world, which I hope to bring to all of the children I teach.

I decided to apply for a job with NAISAK because I admire the philosophy that is instilled within the school environment as it matches my own. It is an excellent opportunity to bring my open-mindedness to children and to help them reach their full potential. I will bring creative and challenging lessons to inspire children to stretch their horizons in order to see the world in amazing ways. I desire for my children to be positive and I will ensure that they are proud of their learning and their individual personalities.

My family and friends always tell me I am a kind, positive and easy-going person. I strive to see positivity in anything and everything, as I believe that life is such a beautiful thing. Childhood is such a delicate age of life and providing children with my desired environment where they feel secure, excited and content enables high quality learning and teaching to take place. I am definitely a child at heart and I love seeing children smile and laugh.

Working for NAISAK is going to a completely new experience; I have never had my own class before. I am so excited to be a part of the Year 3 children’s lives; I want to unlock the positivity towards learning. I taught in a Secondary School in France, as part of my undergraduate, but this is definitely another level as it will be such a different culture and I cannot wait to experience it with the children. I am really looking forward to working with you, the children and the rest of the NAISAK community!
