During my time at the University of Cumbria I completed successful teaching placements in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. I was lucky to work in schools that cover a large sociodemographic area, working with and supporting children and families with a variety of needs. After graduating with a Degree in Education, a specialism in Early Years Education and obtaining my QTS I moved on to substitute teaching in my local area to gain even more experience. I had the opportunity to work with some fantastic staff across the primary age range; giving me further understanding of the progression children make in their school lives. Although I enjoyed teaching at home in England, my experience teaching abroad has been invaluable both to my career and my growth as a person. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching Year 2 in the UAE and was able to apply the knowledge and skills I gained throughout my teaching practice; developing my cultural knowledge, classroom management and parental relationship skills. Whilst there I worked with my team to implement successful changes to the planning and assessment process, introduce a reading and phonics scheme and reorganise the curriculum to provide challenging, yet fun, learning opportunities on a daily basis.
I am eager to begin my journey at NAISAK as it is a school with a global outlook; developing worldwide relationships and understanding. I am drawn
to the community feel of the school and the outstanding support the school delivers to its students, parents and staff to ensure children grow as individuals.
Through joining NAISAK I will be able to extend the skills I have learned this far and provide a motivating and purposeful environment for the children to learn in. Having been in education until the age of 21 I have recently made the decision to travel and experience the world. I have been lucky enough to travel across Europe and visit several places in America. Whilst here in Qatar I hope to spend time visiting more places in the Middle East and Asia. I have no doubt that combining my passion for teaching and eagerness to try new things will result in many exciting and challenging experiences for both myself and the children I work with.
I am excited to work at NAISAK and I intend to instill my enthusiasm and positivity in my students. I strive to provide challenging and exciting learning experiences both inside and outside of the classroom. I want my class to achieve their maximum potential while pursuing their interests and that’s why I love the topics studied at NAISAK. I plan to support and encourage my students through well planned and delivered lessons that focus on active learning and investigation.
It is important to me that we develop the whole child academically, personally, socially, emotionally, physically and culturally to prepare them for their lives ahead - teaching them the skills and confidence to flourish. I have always recognised my student’s achievements, both personal and academic, to build positive relationships within the classroom and ensure the children develop a sense of belonging.
To further support my class and provide a positive environment I strive to develop strong working relationships with parents and home. It is important to me to celebrate and share the children’s hard work and achievements with families as well as communicate any concerns. I am aware of how busy life can be so I am always flexible to reach out and communicate face to face, through a telephone call or through Communication Books as it suits. I look forward to hearing from, and working alongside, you all.
I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to become part of the NAISAK community and I look forward to making a positive impact on the lives of the children and adults I work with as well as developing my own teaching.
