Lauren Chelsea Jones

 I studied at Canterbury Christ Church University for 3 years where I gained a degree in Sport and Leisure Management. Once completing this, I returned back to Qatar where I started my journey of being a teacher. I first started as a Teaching Assistant at Al Khor International School, after which I went on to complete my Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with the University of Sunderland. 

From AKIS I went on to my first teaching position at the English Modern School where I completed two years as a Year 1 Teacher. I am now in my second year of working at NAISAK as a Year 1 Teacher. NAISAK has a fantastic reputation, especially in terms of its friendly and modern teaching environment that is formed by a supportive leadership team, ensuring all teachers get the support and training needed to further improve the educational structure for the students.

I have lived in Qatar from the age of 8, where I moved with my family from England. I have spent the majority of my life in Qatar where I completed all my schooling at Doha English Speaking School and Doha College. Living in Qatar has been a privilege, where I have had the opportunity to travel the world and experience the many different cultures and traditions. Every summer I return back to England where I get the chance to catch up with my family and friends before returning back to Qatar for the start of the school year. 

As an individual, I have a friendly and caring personality and enjoy getting involved. I thoroughly enjoy keeping active, with swimming being my main passion. Although I do not compete in swimming anymore, I am now a swimming coach, which allows me the opportunity to further inspire children to achieve their aspirations. 

NAISAK is different to the previous schools I have worked at, as it closely follows a UK based curriculum, one which I have more experience with and feel more confident teaching. My greatest satisfaction comes from seeing my students exceed their own expectations and discover new concepts and skills as a result of my lessons and encouragement. My goal for all my students this year is for them to build a love for learning, showing a passion to excel at school.

To ensure all NAISAK governing rules are implemented in my classroom, I will make sure all of the academic topics are covered, and differentiated to the individual students abilities. I will also ensure that all students are interacting socially with each other, ensuring that all the students feel welcome and happy to be at school every day. I look forward to making my classroom a welcoming learning environment.

To ensure that I have a positive relationship with students’ parents, I will make sure my school email is available for them, so they will be able to contact me if they have any queries. Also, if I have any concerns about any students I will make sure parents are aware, so we can work together and ensure all students are receiving the help and support they need to succeed this school year.
