Sophia Clutton

SC

Year 1 Leader/Teacher

My name is Sophia Clutton and I will be joining the Year 1 team this year at NAISAK. I am from Kent, England, and completed my studies at the University of Brighton and the University of Sunderland. I am currently living in Zurich, Switzerland where I have enjoyed working for the past five years at an International Multilingual School. I have enjoyed working in a multi-cultural and dynamic learning environment where culture and language is celebrated and is key to gaining international perspective. In my spare time I enjoy travelling and exploring new cultures and cuisine. Living in Switzerland has allowed me to try new hobbies such as skiing and hiking. I am very excited to be joining the NAISAK team, experience a new country and culture and develop new hobbies. Through joining the NAISAK team I will be able to extend the skills I have learned this far and provide a motivating and focused environment for the children to learn in.

Having graduated from the University of Brighton with a degree in International Events Management, I moved to London where I worked in sporting and corporate events. Working in sporting events allowed me to be part of the hosting team for the London 2012 Olympics and other London based events.

After working in London for 1 and a half years, my partner and I moved to Zurich, Switzerland where I decided upon a career change. I enrolled at the University of Sunderland to complete an overseas PGCE in education. At the time of enrolling at the University of Sunderland I had already been working at an International school as a Teaching Assistant. I was lucky enough to complete my work placements within this school environment, and after my studies I continued to work for the school as a Foundation Stage Teacher and ECA Coordinator. After a successful first year teaching I then joined the Year 1 team at the same school. The experience I have gained at this school has been fantastic due to its diverse student population, which has provided me with the many skills that I value today.

I am a kind and easy-going person, and I strive to see the positivity in everything. I am a strong believer that life should be full of wonderful experiences. My personal aspirations in life are to keep learning and to never sit still. I want to keep challenging myself to learn new things, through travel, work and meeting others.

I am looking forward to joining NAISAK because it is a school that is striving to be the best it can. I want to be part of a school that is growing and developing and NAISAK for me fits in perfectly with that idea. I believe that a school should be a community that helps one another and the NAISAK community is at the centre of the school, making it a comfortable and motivating environment to work in.
